What is a Sign Language Day?

For many years, I've been teaching basic sign language and deaf awareness, not just in schools, but in businesses and charities too. There has always been a fascination from both adults and kids in the learning of sign language. The huge success of CBBC programmes like Something Special and Magic Hands is testament to that.

Now you can bring a Sign Language Day into your school too and give your children the chance to learn some Sign Language and a little more about the world around them.

Sign Language Days are easily incorporated into a single school day for both teachers or school managers. Our Sign Language Day tutors will spend the day delivering simple and fun basic sign languge to classes, providing children with an insight into visual forms of communication, equality and inclusion. A Sign Language Day has benefits for children and your school too.

To mix it up, we can deliver a basic deaf awareness session for school staff, show off some fascinating equipment that deaf people use every day and teach chlldren a signed song.

It's flexible so what's included in the day is up to you, but in any case, its a simple and easy way for schools to support Key Stage 1 & 2 teaching about the human body, help children learn about equality and inclusion which is useful for Ofsted inspections. Why not find out more about what's included.

Please get in touch to find out how to book a Sign Language Day for your school or to chat about how it works.

Best wishes
